FUN et FUNNY

Dans mon pays, on regarde TV5Monde, une chaîne de télévision française. Il y a une émission qui s'appelle LE MEILLEUR DE FLORENCE FORESTI. Voici un extrait sur YouTube.



Regarder Florence Foresti me fait rire. For me, she is really funny and watching her is a lot of fun.

Voilà... quelle est la différence entre les mots fun et funny ?

Voici un exercice :

1. I recently went to Bali, Indonesia. My vacation was (fun, funny).
2. Someone told me that the most popular movie in France now is "Bienvenue Chez Les ch'ti". I heard it was (fun, funny).
3. I want to try skiing. I think it's (fun, funny).
4. The joke he told last night was very (fun, funny).

Alors... lorsque quelque chose est amusant ou agréable, on utilise fun. Normalement, fun est employé pour quelque chose que vous faites. Donc, les usages corrects dans mes exemples sont :

• I recently went to Bali, Indonesia. My vacation was fun.
• I want to try skiing. I think it's fun.

Quand quelque chose est trop marrant, c'est funny. On utilise funny avec quelques choses qu'on voit ou écoute. Donc...

• Someone told me that the most popular movie in France now is "Bienvenue Ches Les ch'ti". I heard it was funny.
• The joke he told last night was very funny.

J'explique la différence entre les deux mots parce que j'ai remarqué que certains de mes contacts qui confondent funny et fun. It's funny when I hear them say funny instead of fun when describing about their experiences. So, I hope that with this explanation, you now know the difference between the two words.
